30 Manicure Challenge - Manicure #3

The third manicure in the challenge is yellow nails.

The base is Color Club Almost Famous, the shimmer is Wet N Wild Cozumel (one of their Craze minis), the green glitter is an L.A. Color striper.  The stars used are meant for scrap-booking, from Martha Stewart.

This definitely wasn't a favorite manicure of mine, I was itching to take it off less than 24 hours after putting it on.  A bunch of the stars fell off in my sleep as well, guess they needed more than one coat of Seche.  The yellow is a nice color, it doesn't suit my complexion though, and I rarely use yellow.  Also I have found that yellow polishes tend to be streaky uneven pains in the butt to use, no matter what brand.

30 Manicure Challenge - Manicure #2

Challenge #2 is orange nails. I decided to try an unworn that I purchased last spring.

 (without flash)

(with flash)

I chose Finger Paints Outta Sight Orange.  It's a nice orange jelly with shimmer in it.  It went on pretty well, not really any issues.  This is 3 coats.  I somehow have a lot of oranges, even though it's another color I don't really care for.  I also used orange rhinestones and orange teardrop plastic pieces to make it a little less ordinary.

Mini Haul and Easter Eggs

I saw a displayer being put up the other day at work and promptly went over to it to grab the new polishes. They were the Wet n Wild spring colors.

There names are, starting with the blue, Bird Bath, Garden Hose, Collecting Pollen, Laughing Lilac, Cherry Blossom and Sunburst.

I proceeded to use all these colors for my Easter mani.

I did a skittles mani, and used my dotting tool with the magenta polish (Laughing Lilac) to do the dots, and the brush on the other end to do the squiggled line. A representation of the Easter egg.

I was not too impressed with the polishes. The blue and green were okay in 3 coats, the pink and orange could have probably used a 4th, and the yellow, even at 4 coats still was uneven. Also after not even a full day I had a lot of tipwear.

More Dots! More Dots!

So if you're a World of Warcraft addict like myself you'll get the title :D

Expanding on my dot mani idea from the other day I created this one:

(flash, most color accurate)

All colors used are from Color Club. Base is Rebel Debutante, blue is Gossip Column, magenta is Ms. Socialite and the yellow is Almost Famous. I love this mani, so bright and fun. Color Club has an awesome polish formula, so smooth and easy to apply. Now I need to get myself different sized dotting tools for some more fun.

Spring Dots

I happened upon 3 new Revlon shades in a displayer at work, bought them and then decided I needed to do a spring like manicure.

This was me just playing around. I wanted to see what the orange was like. It went on smoothly and dried in decent timing. I like the orange but just felt it was so plain, so I took a toothpick and just started adding dots.

(flash)

The picture with flash is the most color accurate. The orange is Revlon Tangerine, the blue is Revlon Blue Lagoon, the yellow is Revlon Sunshine Sparkle, the magenta is Color Club Ms. Socialite and the green is Color Club Rebel Debutante. I think it's nice and bright and perfect for the spring. :D

Blocked Nail Art

This next look I did quite a while back, saved the pictures but never got to upload them. I had a good concept, but missed on the execution on some nails.

Sadly I do not remember the colors used exactly. I started with a base of white. The yellow I think is the same OPI as the previous post, the orange I believe is a Sally Hansen Extreme Wear, and I think the red may be from Nina Pro. The stripping brush is Kiss Nail Art in black.
The fingers that I do not like are the left hand index and thumb, and the right hand middle and index, as they do not follow the pattern I originally was going for. They were definitely eye catching, and I had a lot of fun creating them.

Sometimes Nail Art Fails

You know when you have a cool idea, but the concept just doesn't come out properly? Well that's what the mani I'm going to show you was for me. I think these "fails" are good to show, as you learn from them what needs to be improved for the next.

I used OPI's "Need Sunglasses?" for the base, and a Kiss nail art striper for the design. The yellow is the perfect iconic smiley face yellow. What I think needed improvement with this was not using the striper for the design, instead using a proper shorter nail art brush. I plan to revisit this design in the future.

Mini Haul and NOTD

I ordered some items from bundlemonster.com, and they came in the other day.

I got 21 fauxnad plates at a price of 17.99$ US, and 10 gem/decal/bead wheels for 17.99$ US as well (I believe it is listed as 14000 gems/beads). This is a great deal. The shipping time was very reasonable, and honestly, the plates are a steal! Now if only my Konad order would arrive. One of the gem wheels had a broken cover when it arrived, and some of the little beads fell out, but honestly that isn't a big deal to me, as I originally ordered them for the gems. The plates have a variety of images on them, from full nail, to tips, to smaller images (flowers, hearts, butterflies, animals, sweets, to name a few). All in all I am extremely pleased with this order, I believe it is a great deal for all that I received. I cannot wait to use the plates, and will post if for some reason they aren't of quality once used.

NOTD:

I wanted to play with my dotting tool. The base is 2 coats of Essie- True Love, the tips are OPI- DS Extravagance, and the flower leaves are OPI- DS Tapestry. Unfortunately I don't believe I was able to pick up the holo effects of the OPI polishes in my picture. I also noticed that you can see the staining of my nails through the Essie, despite a base coat. Lesson learned, never wear any nail polish without a base coat (my staining is thanks a pretty Orly green polish). If anyone has suggestions on how to remove/lessen the staining on my nails I would be grateful for your advice.

Grey Play

I finally found myself a grey polish (seems to be rare where I live). I wore it for one day, then decided to play with a bit of simple nail art.

This is Gosh - Miss Grey (594), Kiss nail art paint in Black, and some black rhinestones that I found at a craft store. I also used Essie - Matte About You before I applied the rhinestone.

NOTD - Real Flowers!

As I was going through some older art supplies of mine I found dried flowers that I had purchased to make paper years ago and it struck me, I must incorporate them into a mani!

The polishes used are Rimmel-Princess Pink as a base, and on top of the flowers a coat each of Orly-Love Each Other, and Fifty-Four.
Surprisingly the flowers hold up well, as none have started to come off yet (I've now been wearing this mani for 3 days).
I apologize for the messyness of around my nails, you never notice it until a picture like that is taken.
