Tinsel Revamped

In the usual me style for day 2 of wearing Tinsel Town I wanted to change it up a bit.  I recently bought some new shatters, and decided to add Navy Shatter (OPI) on top.

(with flash)

I honestly wasn't impressed by the results.  I think Tinsel Town looked better on it's own.  I will have to experiment some more to find colors that go well with Navy Shatter.

Tinsel For Your Fingers

I present you with China Glaze's Tinsel Town from their current winter collection.
It's a greyish silver glitter with fine glitter and some slightly bigger hex glitter.

(with flash)

I fell in love with this glitter from the moment of application.  It went on smoothly, with no hassles.  It only took two coats for complete coverage.  This is like dream glitter for me, and I wish China Glaze had a whole collection of them, even part of their regular collection, of a rainbow array of colors.  This will definitely make it into my lists of go to glitters for quick easy manis.

Gems

I have some pretty glitter to brighten up your day.

(flash)

This is Milani Gems over an off-white base. Really pretty glitter mixture. Application was as decent as I think you can get with multi-sized glitter. Removal was a pain, but that is expected.

Royal Gold

This was my mani a little bit back.

(flash)

Revlon's Top Speed in Royal as a base and Milani Jewel FX in Gold. My nails did give me the royalty feel while wearing this combo. Royal is a really nice jelly polish, but beware the staining! Where I had gotten polish on my skin stayed stained even after clean up. Definitely use a base coat with it. A little note as well, as you can imagine, the glitter was a pain to remove.

Silver Dazzle

A couple weeks ago I took a trip to the other side of town to check out a drug store that sells some brands of nail polish that I cannot get anywhere else in town. I was in luck, the reline was done on the Milani collection, so I was able to pick up a bunch of the one coat glitters. This is the first one I decided to wear.

This is Silver Dazzle from Milani. While it says that it's a one coat glitter, I felt that it needed two for full coverage. I was amazed by this color. I could not take my eyes off my nails, and I don't think any other color in the collection will be as great. It was also pretty easy to take off for a glitter. This is definitely a must have for any collection.

Frosted Cake

I`m sure that by now everyone has seen all the beautiful swatches of Lippmann`s Glitter in the Air. When I first saw this polish I was intrigued, it`s not really the look I would usually go for, but the more swatches I saw, the more it grew on me. And then inspiration struck as I was wearing my previous mani. I present to you my franken, Frosted Cake. The name came from a co-worker tonight that said that my nails looked like frosting on a cake :D

This franken is not meant to be a dup (as it isn`t near), but it was inspired by Lippman`s polish. It is a blue based (a lot more so then the picture portrays) milky jelly with multiple glitter in it. I used close to 1/4 of a bottle of Essie Waltz, about the same amount of a clear polish, 1/10th of a bottle of OPI What's With the Cattitude?, and 2/3 of a bottle of Wet N Wild Party of Five Glitters. The glitter does sink, so I basically shake it a bunch, do one coat on one hand, shake, do a coat on the second hand and repeat.

Unfortunately my middle finger on my swatching hand got a huge chip and is now nubby. I have a nubby nail on each hand now, looks so out of proportion :/

Shimmer and Glitter

Last night I could not decide what to wear for a manicure today. I did about 3 manicures before I was too tired to change the last one, so I stuck with it. I am not very fond of it, and had zero intentions of taking a photograph of the mani, but at work today I had a lady and her daughter comment on how much they loved it, and they asked where they could purchase the colors. I told them where, but they didn't want to make an extra trip to Sally's beauty supply, so the mother asked me to help her pick out colors at the store that would be easy replacements, which I gladly did. This alone made me so happy. The mother also called the store later on and asked if she could see the rest of the collection (what I was wearing is not out on the sales floor yet) and I told her to come in for my shift tonight and I'll gladly show her the rest. I've actually made up a wheel with the colors that I myself have purchased so she can really see them. I think i'm only missing about 5 colors from the whole collection.

It's the reason why I still photograph my "fails" and post them, because you never know when something that I dislike may inspire someone else. This is also why I started this blog, to share with other people.

The second photo is with flash and is posted to show some of the blue shimmer, which did not show up well in any photograph that I took, compared to how I see it when I am looking at it irl.

I am wearing two coats of a shimmer blue from Sally Beauty Supplies (812097), which is actually more opaque under the lights than it appears in the photos, and three coats of Wet N Wild Party of Five Glitters, over the Sally.

The Wet N Wild polish has a smooth finish to it, I only had to use the normal one coat of Seche Vite. It did dry in decent timing, and did have nice coverage. I am not a fan of the brushes on these polishes, they're a bit too big and too splayed for my liking. I also have several uneven cut or extremely splayed brushes in the ones I bought. And as per usual with glitters, this one is a pain to take off.

Blue Franken

The other night I was in a franken mood, and this is one of my creations.

It's somewhat streaky for application. It's a little on the dusty blue side, which adds interest. I don't believe that I have any similar in my collection, which is always a good thing. I added Wet N Wild's The Gold and the Beautiful on top. I kept thinking of Aladdin while wearing this, lol.

I am also noticing in these photos that my cuticles appear a lot dryer and in bad shape on camera, compared to how they look to me irl. I will try and fix this, my apologies.

A Pink of Interest

Now I'm not a huge fan of pinks, but this one did catch my eye.

This is OPI's Teenage Dream from the Katy Perry collection. I love the multi-color shine of the bigger glitter in it. Was a nice application, pretty smooth and only needed one coat of Seche for it to stay smooth. Was a pain to remove though, the big glitter would not come off my nails. I didn't realize how close to my nail/skin tone this color was though. It looks darker in the bottle, but it could also be that this was only 2 coats.

Starry Franken

I present to you a franken that I love. It is a dark blue jelly with 3 different types of silver glitter in it, one so fine it reflects as little particles when hit by light.

and with flash:

The polishes used are Sally Hansen Diamond Strength in "Diamonds" (this is the really fine glitter that adds the extra WOW factor), Orly "La Playa" for the blue base, Sally Hansen Hard as Nails clear (any clear base will do though) and two really old and really cheap silver glitters of mine (they are about 10 years old, yet still like new, apart from the yellowing of the base).

Sadly I could not capture the true beauty of this polish with my camera. You can see the bigger silver glitter suspended between the layers, and as you move your fingers the little twinkling of the fine fine glitter of the Sally Hansen. I think I may end up wearing this again today when I put on new fake nails (sadly, I had to cut down my nails, and have nubs atm, these pictures are of my real nails, however).

Red Glitter....so pretty!

Figured I would get a post in while I am at home, sick again (have had laryngitis for over a week now). This is the mani that I am currently sporting. It's very unlike me, as I'm not a fan of red polishes for some unknown reason. Alas I was in an odd mood the other night, wanted something quick, easy to apply, bright and blingy. Those wants usually lead me to a glitter :P

This is a pretty red glitter from Color Club, 3 coats. Sadly my bottles do not have any names on them, but it is from a more recent glitter collection. The glitters in this collection (came as 7 together) are very easy to apply, and aren't too chunky or rough, requiring only one coat of top coat to satisfy my tastes.

On a side note, if anyone knows how to fix the blurryness of my camera it would be really helpful. I use a sony cybershot (nothing fancy, sadly), and do not have a pedestal for it, so I have to hold it as still as I can while taking my shots.
